Lorri:    I rode with my husband on the back for 30 years bunch of different bikes.

I had gone back to school I told him for graduation I wanted a bike and he said oh yeah sure.

 

Linda: Laughs

 

Lorri:   So  I got my bike for a graduation present when I went back to get my degree1:33

 

AND WITH THAT DEGREE AND HER GRADUATION PRESENT, LORI STASIUM BECAME THE COOLEST 6^TH GRADE LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER!

 

Lorri:    I have them do all sorts of writing assignments related to riding related to women riding.

 

Lorri to children in schoolyard: Actually on this kids you don’t have a key to start it

 

Lorri:  They learn about the safety equipment that I use on bike.

 

Linda: What do you think your kids, getting out of your passion for motorcycles?

 

Lorri:   Getting kids to write in 6^th grade is difficult.

 If they write about things that are fun and things that are different it’s much easier to do… to think outside of what their used to seeing.

Linda: So what does your husband think of you riding beside him now rather than behind him?

           

Lorri: He misses me on the back.

 

Linda:The  back rest  (laugh)

 

Lorri: a back rest (laugh)

 

Husband to Lorri getting on motorcycles at their home: Bike looks pretty clean how long did it take you to clean it.

 

Lorri:    Way longer than the bathroom.

 

(to Linda) He doesn’t have to sneak away to go to motorcycle events he just takes me with

 

Lorri:    Someone has to stay home with the babies.

 

AND THOSE BABIES ARE  LORRI’S  GRANDCHILDREN WHO ALSO MAKE TRACKS WITH THEIR MOTORCYCLES.

Lorri:  You know everybody see the big tattooed biker guys…there’s a sterotype of bikers and I’m certainly not that fashion.

 

AND NEITHER ARE OTHER WOMEN ACROSS THE COUNTRY LIKE LORRI WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE WOMEN IN THE WIND;

 

Lorri:   It’s an International Women’s Motorcycling organization…we have women from all walks of life. In my particular chapter we have doctors, lawyers, stay at home moms.

 

Linda: Well, you convinced me. Lets go get me a Harley!

Linda: Is this your favorite place Lorri?

Barb:  This is brand new 07 color and hot

 

Linda: you have to feel more sexy on a motorcycle-

 

Barb: Oh! 25% at least your sexappeal goes up on a Harley

Lorri we definitely have to get Linda in some proper riding gear.

 

Linda: I’m In! Dress me up!

 

Barb: Linda I have the perfect riding jacket for you..

 

Linda: I’m gonna be a biker babe!

Linda: What do you think about moms riding motorcycles?

 

 

 

Lorri:  Go for it!

 

Linda: It’s very empowering for women.

 

Lorri:    It is!  It’s been so freeing and I do so much with it

in my classroom in my life in everything.  I’m a biker babe!
