Remember that family rules apply for everybody. Ifthe rules are only for the kids, or if they're supposed to be for everybody butyou break them, you're saying, “I'm the one in power (ha-ha, you're not),” “I'man adult so I matter, you're a kid so you don't,” and “Just wait until you growup. Then you can break all the rules you want.”
Communicate with your child, listen to them and let them know that you'rereally taking in what they're saying. Make eye contact, use non-verbalcommunication like smiling, hugging, kissing and touching. Be a good example to your teensand let them join some helpful programsfor teens.
