Anyone Graduating in your House?
Submitted By Jean
My daughter, Lianda just graduated from Fordham University, my Alma Mater. It was a proud moment to stand with her as she received her diploma. As she shook the Dean's hand, I vowed to do my best to help make this world a better place for her and other graduates to live and thrive.
Now just three Swain kids left to go! I relish the days when I had 4 children in one school and the total cost was less than $4000, not the cost of a house! But, I count my blessings every day that we have the ability to send our children to college. It is a wonder to me how some of the most notable Universities in the world hold on to so many billions of dollars while there is a sea of bright, underserved children across the United States who dream about college but haven't the means to attend. Glenn Beck from CNN paints a very clear picture with his article about Harvard University: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/05/14/beck.collegeendowment.
You know those times when we say to ourselves, things like, "if only I was President of Harvard" or "if I had billions of dollars" how I would help other people. Well, in the end, we are required to do our best with what we have to make a positive impact in the world and doing our best is always big. Keep that in the light!
