I just read that 3 more large companies withdrew their support from Don Imus.
I think that is significant.

Even though to err is human and to forgive; divine, Imus has suddenly made himself a relic of the past and a symbol of racism in one fell swoop. Ya gotta be careful what you say in front of a NATIONAL AUDIENCE!!! JEEZZ!!

If I was President of the network, I would kick his butt so far out that door just because of the damage done!

Words like these are like daggers that stab the heart of every person who feels discrimination in any way. The wound takes so long to heal, even when the press dissipates. And, fueling anger and despair among people of color, people who have disabilities and women in general, isn’t worth taking the risk with this man on our national airwaves.

If we really want to think of ourselves as a civilized nation, there has to be a common agreement among our society that a hand slap for trying to kill the human spirit is not enough.

Perhaps Imus should resign on his own accord and spend some quality time among diverse communities to gain the humility that would serve him well. In time, when the risk of repeating this mistake is gone, he should get back on the air, be entertaining and make a positive difference in the world.
