Nuns and Jon Bon Jovi!
Submitted By Anonymous
I got a call from Sister Mary Scullion today. She felt terrible about having to change our meeting time because rocker, Jon Bon Jovi was coming to Project Home to see her. I laughed,” Sister, Bon Jovi is about to meet the biggest rock star he ever met!” YOU!
We started to think of a list of things for Jon now that he has found his way to her. I only met Jon briefly on our set but it was obvious he has a big heart as well as a lot of soul.
Sister Mary is America’s answer to Mother Theresa. I am sure of it. She has humbly rallied support to convert city blocks to house the ever increasing amount of the poor and homeless in Philadelphia and the rest of the country.
Sister and I met last year when I featured a homeless mom and I know whatever Sister wants me to do, I never question it. I believe she just may have bigger connections than the President! You don’t mess with that!
I was deeply affected in a positive way by all of the nuns who taught me all through my childhood.
By the time I got to 8th grade I thought I could possibly be a nun or a missionary. I was in love with nuns! I would spend weeks embroidering a pillow or crocheting scarves and get on my bike and ride 2 miles to the convent to give these gifts to them.
This is the part when my family says,”What Happened?!”
Obviously, I was much less connected to nuns or anyone remotely like them in my college years.
But, when you happen to come across someone who lives a completely selfless life and make an effort to help that person achieve their goals, how could you not feel better about yourself? Isn’t the power of good is addicting?
