Thanks Joan,

When I had 4 kids in 4 years and was working full time with my husband in our travel business, you can bet I figured out some “busy mom” style tips.

Here are my top 10 on style and keeping in shape.

1- Sleeping Longer in the A.M...- If you prefer to sleep those extra minutes and not wash your hair, get a round brush and spritz the front of your hair with water or a light water based product, and blow dry that part, do the same to the top and then the hair in the back of your crown where you have a sleep mark. Brush it out and it looks like you just washed your hair.
2- Grocery Store Run- If you need to go to the store and you look and feel exhausted, take 3 minutes and do ponytail, bright lipstick and mascara and you look lovely and pulled together in sweats or jeans.
3- Car Help- I keep a mirrored powder, lipstick, comb and mascara in my car in case I forgot I had a teacher’s meeting and I’m out and about. I’m always switching bags so can’t count on having these things with me at all times.
4- More on Hair- I do my hair and makeup myself on many of my shoots. I have very wavy hair. I wash my hair about 3 times a week because I dry it in brushes as it is not oily. I use about 9 horse hair medium brushes that I use to blow dry my hair. I leave them rolled up in my hair while I put on my makeup. I pull them out and just go. I don’t even brush it through. It holds for days
5- Stretch – Stretch in the morning and use the goal of touching your toes without straining. I stretch for about 10 minutes to stay flexible along with an hour of meditation, chakra clearing and praying the Rosary. It makes me feel great so that helps me look great and act kindly. I do lift weights once or twice a week for 30 minutes and regular cardio although I can’t wait til I have enough discipline to do yoga…maybe this week.
6- Hungry in the Car- I keep a RAW nut mix of almonds, dried cherries, walnuts, other seeds in a bag in my car for running around so I don’t snack on junk. It really works! It could be in the car for 3 months in all weather and it is still good.
7- No Diet Sodas! Cut out artificially sweetners and diet drinks with them as best you can! They make you crave sugar so that isn’t good for dieting. I drink filtered water.
8- Breakfast on the Run- I drink a fruit and hemp protein smoothie for breakfast which gives you so much more energy than coffee and then a salad for lunch most days. If you can get through 2pm eating healthy, you feel better psychologically about eating a healthy dinner too.
9- I try to wear colorful tops most of the time because I feel brighter in spirit and people sense that.
10- Accessories- Grab a belt or scarf on the run and it makes any outfit look stylish!
