Real Advice From Real Moms

My best advice is to speak very slowly, and quietly, to your child. Even as an infant. Your child will pay more attention to a soft voice, and will learn pronunciation more quickly if mom and dad enunciate. - Submitted by JF Coakley

Get a little basket for the kids to carry around the house picking up toys. It makes it easier to pick up all the small items and my daughter really loves strolling around the house with her basket and singing the clean up song. - Submitted by Kathryn Reitman

Sometimes you have to pick your battles, I can handle clothes and toys on the floor but I draw the line at wet towels and food/drink trash in the bedroom. Handy computer printed signs work great. - Submitted by Melinda Grubb

When leaving my 1 1/2 year old with a babysitter I pull out a toy that has been closeted for a few weeks. That way she is happily playing with the toy and doesn't care that we are leaving. Plus it doesn't cost money just a little recycling of toys. - Submitted by Mindie Whitten

With little ones, always keep a change of clothes in the trunk of your car, just in case. If your child is still in diapers, keep a stash in the trunk for emergencies too. - Submitted by Donna Fromkin
