Sunscreens that PREVENT skin cancer- not cause it!

by: Lianda Swain (http://www.liandaswain.com)

Time to break out the "togs" and prep for some fun in the sun. It's easy for us to lose track of time while playing on the beach, and this can inevitably lead to the burning, itching, and lobster-like effect of a nice sunburn.

So, it's super important to pick up the RIGHT sunscreen to prevent the burn, premature aging, skin cancer, and bizarre hot/cold sensation.

This website (http://www.ewg.org/2010sunscreen/) shows the best and the worst sunscreens to put on your skin. It's really important not to dose your skin with chemicals because not only can they actually make you susceptible to cancer, but they also have the potential to encourage yeast growth in your body, fatigue, poor digestion, and a clogged system overall.

I use Nature's Gate Sunscreen and Alba Botanics Sunscreen. They seem to rate pretty well on the scale! I really like them and I actually get A LOT of protection from them. I used to lie in the sun with baby oil every summer and go tanning in my teens and early 20's. BAD move- but you live and you learn, right?

As a result, at age 21, I started getting lines on my forehead. Not only that, but the skin on my body started to look like it could eventually turn into that of a 90-year old woman who spent half of her life in the sun, if I kept up my tanning craze.

Lines on my face, I'm fine with, but the fact that I was only 21 and getting lines, freaked me out! Now, I'm a sunscreen gal which is new ground for me, and my skin is actually looking better as a result!

Don't get me wrong, I still like to lie out often and whenever I get the chance, I just add the screen. If you think about it, we are older for longer, but can look younger and healthier for longer if we prep for our graceful aging now!

And it's good to take care of your body, after all, it is your temple!

Don't forget, 20 minutes of sun exposure WITHOUT sunscreen does the body good. So make sure you take a few minutes on your lunch break to get outside!
